How do I get my Cattleya orchid to regrow its roots?

I have a small Cattleya that I left out on my balcony for too long. I live in southern California, but it was especially cold this year. I brought it in a couple of weaks ago and noticed that its roots have died. The leaves are still green and firm. Will the roots regrow when it gets warmer? Is there anything I can do to encourage root growth? What about watering?

only water it slightly

repot it in bark and potting soil and sand I think
Reply:You can put it in a jar of water for 3-5 days and it should start to grow roots.
