What is a Cattleya?

My aunt was talking about a Cattleya the other day and I was just wondering what it was. I'm assuming from her conversation that it's some kind of plant. Any information?

What is a Cattleya?
Cattleya is an orchid grown for their beautiful flowers.

Reply:Cattleyas are commonly found in corsages as well.





They are sympodial (the plant spreads from several growth points) and each pseudobulb may have 1 or 2 leaves.
Reply:It is a genius of the Orchard family typically chararcterised by a three lobed lip enclosing the column. Research orchards and you will see they are beautiful.
Reply:It is a type of orchid - many of them are in cultivation and are beautiful.
